Risk Inmate Movement and Transport Certification Course
COURSE SPECIFICATIONS: A specialized
two-day certification training program to train and certify
officers in inmate high-risk transportation. The course specifically
covers the proper handling of high-risk inmates in the facility,
transport van movement/safety and escort into the courthouse.
The training additionally addresses numerous variables with
high-risk inmates including; Deputy safety concerns, inmate
movement preparations, proper control/restraint, movement and
transportation issues based on actual incidents that have occurred
throughout the United States. Five-year (5) certification awarded
at the successful completion of the course.
Topics Covered in the Program Include:
- Developing a high-risk inmate movement/transport action
plan.
- Pre-movement preparation of high-risk inmates; searching,
application of restraints, movement priorities within the
facility to transport vans. Preparations check list & safety
of transport vans.
- Handling violent high-risk inmates; safe takedowns in restraints,
attempted escape potential, response to weapon assaults from
family members, gangs etc. during transport or at court facility.
- Training in 12 GA Shotgun less lethal munitions.
- Extensive hands-on training exercises and scenarios conducted.
